Bio
Destiny Akins is proud to be part of the UC Davis Environmental Science and Policy Department. She began her higher education at San Joaquin Delta College, where she participated in the AFFIRM program, supporting the retention and transfer rates of African American students through one-on-one counseling services for students and parents. After transferring from San Joaquin Delta College, she attended Sacramento State University, where she earned her BA in Dance with honors and participated in the Cooper-Woodson College Enhancement Program. Before joining UC Davis, Destiny worked at Folsom Lake College, where she supported students through the college’s Affinity Programs. In this role, she helped students connect with academic resources, cultural communities, and student support services that promote success and belonging. She was dedicated to fostering an inclusive campus environment and encouraging student engagement through mentorship and advocacy. In her free time, Destiny enjoys watching anime and playing video games. She is also a foodie who loves trying new foods. Destiny is passionate about supporting students and helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.
